The Keep it in Kent campaign is about encouraging and supporting Kent-based businesses and residents to make small changes to their spending habits... which includes whenever we can, supporting Kent theatres, event venues and local musicians.
The more people who attend events, shows and gigs in Kent, the better entertainment choices we'll have - right on our doorstep... With greater local exposure, our Kent musicians, bands and acts will become more successful, and our local venues will continue survive and even thrive - attracting not only local people and acts, but bigger names, and wider audiences!
So it really makes sense to us, to get behind local events where we know that the majority of the proceeds will end up back into the Kent economy via local businesses and families.
Set in the stunning surroundings of the castle at Westenhanger, with a fantastic musical line up and with the finest food and drink in the county, this will be truly a once in a lifetime experience!
If you don't know already, Westenhanger Castle is a unique romantic venue near Hythe in Kent, which is most often used for intimate marriage ceremonies, lavish wedding breakfasts and large conferences. Located in fourteen acres of beautiful Kentish countryside, Westenhanger Castle has a reputation for their exceptional personal service, and for that reason it was not surprisingly, the first and obvious choice for this unique music event in partnership with Kent Entertainments and Chinara Enterprises Ltd.
The aim of the event is to bring to Kent some of the best talent who will be performing in the beautiful surroundings of Westenhanger Castle."
The aptly named, and legendary Beverley Knight (a Knight at the Castle - geddit?!) will be treating us to a very special live performance in one of Kent's most atmospheric historical hidden gems! This will be the only opportunity to see Beverley live in Kent after her official tour, and before she returns to the West End to reprise the role of Rachel Marron in the highly acclaimed show, The Bodyguard.
Beverley Knight MBE is a British recording artist, radio presenter and musical theatre actress who released her debut album, The B-Funk, in 1995. Heavily influenced by American soul music icons such as Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin, she has released seven studio albums to date. Widely labelled as one of Britain's greatest soul singers, Beverley Knight is best known for her hit singles "Greatest Day", "Get Up!", "Shoulda Woulda Coulda" and "Come as You Are".
Beverley Knight supported Prince during his residency at the O2 Arena and ended up performing at his after party. As a result of this, she was also flown to perform at his Oscars party in front of A-list stars and got a standing ovation from stars such as Quincy Jones. She also sang at the London 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony. The performance was unanimously praised and a recorded version reached #101 on iTunes, her first charting single since "Soul Survivor" and highest since "Beautiful Night".
On 7 January 2010 Beverley Knight won an edition of the BBC's Celebrity Mastermind, answering questions on "The Life and Times of Prince". Her chosen charity for the show was the Terrence Higgins Trust.
On 9 September 2013, Beverley Knight made her first foray into musical theatre, taking over the lead role of Rachel Marron from Heather Headley in The Bodyguard. Since then, she has also starred in hit shows Menphis, and Cats and will be reprieving her role in The Bodyguard later this year.
Also appearing live on stage throughout this unique event are some of Kent's up and coming acts, plus a fantastic line up of special guests including:
