We had another enjoyable and productive Get Together on 18th November, with lots of new people getting to know each other, as well as several of our longest standing members who had a chance to catch up.

The Customer Service theme we chose was rather apt, given the wonderful efforts made by Debbie at Soul Solutions to serve us a delightful warming and tasty meal at the end of the evening, including a nostalgic sweet treat of After Eights with our coffees!

According to our members and supporters, the Keep it in Kent "Get Togethers" aren't like the other networking events they have attended! We have listened to a lot of feedback and canvased opinions, and the upshot is that we've created a different sort of event, that's a conscious balance between an informal, inclusive and relaxed "bringing together of like-minded business owners" - and an informative, inspirational and constructive session that's conducive to making very real business improvements...

The theme for our gathering this time was about excellent customer service. When we ask people what it is that makes the local businesses stand out from the competition of the national and international chains, the answer is often about the friendly personalised service that we're able to provide. So many of our Kent based businesses depend on close relationships with our customers. We hope things will always go well, but we're all human, and sometimes we don't deliver as well as we'd like/hope, or we make mistakes. Excellent Customer Service is about managing the relationships with our current and potential customers when things are going well, as well as when they're not going so well.
 
So we KiiKed off (!) with quick catch-up from Steve and Tina about all the latest Keep it in Kent developments and plans, and then we had an fun interactive and inspirational Customer Service workshop run by Tina, which included useful insights from two of our members: Sarah Poole from Westenhanger Castle, and Claire Burroughs from Ansacom. Both Sarah and Claire reiterated the importance of investing time and attention to ensuring the quality of our customers' experience from start to finish. TOP TIPS for Outstanding Customer Service
 
After the workshop, we had time for some informal networking whilst we enjoyed the food and refreshments prepared by Debbie. We're delighted to have heard that several really useful new connections were made that evening - showing just how productive our less pressurised style of networking can be!
 
At the end of the evening we held a small draw, and one lucky attendee won a £100 spa voucher to enjoy a treatment at Soul Solutions on us, and another person went home with a nice bottle of wine. (Bought, if not actually produced in Kent!) 
 
We were delighted that one of Keep it in Kent's most recent members offered to host this event. If you've not discovered Soul Solutions yet, then do give it a try, as you're in for a very pleasant surprise! You may have driven past it on your way to somewhere else - it's in an unassuming building in Faversham Industrial Estate, next to a plumbers merchants. But as soon as you park your car, and walk up to the door, you will know you're in the right place... With the calming smell of lavender wafting over you, and the gentle sound of the water fountain, you'll be taken to  an altogether more relaxed state!

Attending our Get Togethers

We’re keen to make the Keep it in Kent events as popular and welcoming as possible. All business members of Keep it in Kent are invited to attend, with a plus one (preferably a business partner, or a business owner) as part of their membership.*

If you (or anyone you know) would like to join Keep it in Kent as a business member, the cost is from just £50 +VAT a year, and you will be able to attend any/all of our events throughout the year free of charge. Anyone who supports the Keep it in Kent campaign is welcome to attend one of our Get Togethers as a guest, but if they’re not a member yet themselves, or are not a member's designated guest, then they will be asked to pay a contribution of £10 (including VAT). Anyone who subsequently joins Keep it in Kent (within a week of the event) will get their £10 fee refunded!

 *Ts anc Cs apply regarding members bringing a plus one: anyone who has joined KiiK before the end of September 2015, or who has received membership through our New Year's Honours awards may bring a plus one to any of our events for the remainder of their annual membership. Otherwise, only Silver Members will have 3 guest passes per year, and Gold members can bring a plus one to every event.
